Hypoxia in the Northern Gulf of Mexico- Causes and ConsequencesSeasonally severe and persistent hypoxia, or low dissolved oxygen concentrations, occur on the inner to mid-Louisiana continental shelf to the west of the Mississippi River and Atchafalaya River deltas.
