I would like to spend my time this morning reviewing with you some of the practices and appraoches research has suggested as being useful in controlling quality of both surface water and groundwater. Given the limited time available, I will highlight only a few of the study findings, and confine my remarks primarily to the problems of nitrogen pollution of groundwater and phosphorus contamination of surface waters.
