Soil Carbon Sequestration in Agriculture- Research Efforts in the Central U.S.Since the late 1800's fossil fuel use, expansion of cultivated agriculture, and forest clearing have led to an increase in atmospheric C02 from 260 pprn to current levels >370 ppm (IPPC, 1995).
