1. Evaluation of Soil Test Potassium Guidelines in Minnesota

Changes in corn and soybean potassium guidelines in states in the Upper Midwest have resulted in questions from consultants and farmers as to how best to manage the nutrient. In Iowa, soil samples analyzed on a field moist basis have been suggested as a method to predict the amount of potassium required for corn and soybean production while in North Dakota the ratio of illite to smecite in soil samples is utilized to determine the appropriate critical level to determine where potassium fertilizer... 2. Investigating Potassium Fertility in Indiana: K Rates and Nutrient Interactions

Adequate potassium (K) nutrition is critical for optimal plant growth and yield production in both corn and soybeans. Ongoing trials across the state of Indiana have been investigating K rate response in corn and soybeans in different environments. Treatments range from 0-180 lbs K2O/ac as potash. Results from these studies will be discussed. Additionally, new in 2025, NxS and NxK trials were conducted to investigate the effect of K nutrient interactions on corn yield. Treatments in... D.
