1. Sulfur Responses and the Wisoconsin Alfalfa Sulfur Survey

For more than 30 years, agronomists, soil scientists, consultants and farmers have recognized the potential for significant responses to applied sulfur fertilizer in northern and western Wisconsin on lighter textured, low organic matter soils that had not recently received manure (Rand et al., 1969; Hoefi and Walsh, 1975; Schulte, 1976; Peters and Kelling, 1987). More recently, crop consultants and others have reported seeing sulhr responses on soils or in locations where they typically were not...

2. Evaluation of Soil Test Methods and Early Tissue Analysis to Assess Potassium Response in Soybean

Multiple soil test methods has been evaluated as diagnostic tool for potassium management in soybeans. This study compared different soil test K methods (STK) and evaluate the correlation to soybean yield and K uptake response in low testing soils, and assessed tissue analysis as alternative for in-season correction options. ... 3. Nitrogen Application Timings in No-Till Dryland Corn Production System

Right timing of nitrogen application is one of the practices of the 4 R nutrient stewardship. Three independent trials using a randomized complete block with 4 replications were conducted to determine the optimal (1) split rate, (2) proportion and (3) timing for sidedress N application in non-irrigated corn. In trial 1 (13-site years), five N rates were examined: 60, 120, 180, 240, and 300 lb N/A, which were applied at two split-applications. Split-applications included single- and split-application....
